This Frozen Cherry Berry Smoothie is a bright, frosty blend made for sweet-tart fruit lovers. Frozen cherries bring bold flavor, mixed berries add a colorful berry burst, and Greek yogurt makes the texture creamy without turning it heavy. It is an easy fruit smoothie for a quick breakfast, a sunny afternoon snack, or anytime you want something cold, cheerful, and simple to blend.
Ingredients
- 1 cup frozen pitted cherries
- 1 cup frozen mixed berries
- 1 small ripe banana, fresh or frozen
- 3/4 cup plain Greek yogurt
- 1/2 cup milk, almond milk, or oat milk
- 1 tablespoon chia seeds
- 1 to 2 teaspoons honey or maple syrup, optional
- 1/2 cup ice, optional for a thicker smoothie
How To Make It
Add the milk to the blender first. This helps the blades move smoothly and keeps the frozen fruit from sticking at the bottom.
Add the Greek yogurt, banana, frozen cherries, frozen mixed berries, and chia seeds. If you like a sweeter smoothie, drizzle in a little honey or maple syrup. If your banana is very ripe, you may not need any extra sweetener.
Blend on high until the smoothie is thick, creamy, and evenly purple-red. Stop and scrape down the sides if needed. If the smoothie is too thick, add another splash of milk and blend again. If you want it colder and frostier, add the ice and blend until smooth.
Pour into one large glass or two smaller glasses. Serve right away while the texture is icy, bright, and spoonable.
Tips
Use frozen cherries and frozen berries for the best thick smoothie texture. Fresh fruit works too, but the smoothie will be thinner unless you add ice or use a frozen banana.
For extra creaminess, use a frozen banana and full-fat or 2% Greek yogurt. For a lighter sip, choose nonfat Greek yogurt and add a little more milk.
If your blender needs help, let the frozen fruit sit at room temperature for 5 minutes before blending. You can also pulse a few times before blending continuously.
To make it more filling, add 1 tablespoon of nut butter or an extra spoonful of Greek yogurt. To make it brighter, add a small squeeze of lemon juice.
Blend it up and enjoy every frosty cherry-berry sip!
