Frozen pineapple lime smoothie in a glass with pineapple chunks and lime slices

Frozen Pineapple Lime Smoothie

This Frozen Pineapple Lime Smoothie is an icy, tropical fruit smoothie with a lightly tart lime finish that makes every sip feel extra refreshing. Frozen pineapple brings the sunny sweetness, banana adds a creamy texture, coconut milk keeps it smooth, and a handful of spinach blends right in for a pretty green boost without taking over the flavor. It is quick to make, bright enough for a hot afternoon, and simple enough for an easy snack smoothie.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups frozen pineapple chunks
  • 1 small ripe banana, peeled
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened coconut milk
  • 1 cup baby spinach, loosely packed
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon lime zest
  • 1/2 cup ice
  • 1 to 2 teaspoons honey or maple syrup, optional

How To Make It

Add the coconut milk to the blender first so the blades can move easily. Add the banana, spinach, lime juice, and lime zest. Top with the frozen pineapple and ice.

Blend on high for 45 to 60 seconds, or until the smoothie is completely smooth and frosty. If your blender needs help, stop and scrape down the sides, then blend again. Add an extra splash of coconut milk if the mixture is too thick to blend.

Taste the smoothie before serving. If your pineapple is very tart, blend in 1 teaspoon of honey or maple syrup. If you want a brighter lime flavor, add a tiny extra squeeze of lime juice. Pour into a chilled glass and enjoy right away while it is icy and fresh.

Tips

Use frozen pineapple for the best thick, slushy texture. Fresh pineapple will still taste great, but the smoothie will be thinner unless you add more ice.

For a creamier smoothie, use a very ripe banana with plenty of brown spots. For a lighter, tangier sip, use half a banana and add a few extra pineapple chunks.

Lime zest makes a big difference because it adds fragrant citrus flavor without making the smoothie too sour. Zest the lime before cutting and juicing it.

For the coconut milk, carton coconut milk gives a lighter smoothie, while canned light coconut milk makes it richer. Either works, so choose based on the texture you like.

If you want to prep ahead, portion the pineapple, banana, spinach, and lime zest into a freezer bag. When ready to blend, add coconut milk, lime juice, and ice.

Blend it cold, pour it tall, and enjoy a bright tropical smoothie in minutes!
